چکیده

Glass-ceramics containing rare earth gallium garnets were obtained using glass compositions as reactional medium. This work reports on the synthesis, and structural, morphological, optical characterizations of Er3+ Tm3+-doped Yb3Ga5O12 crystals prepared from controlled cooling heavy metal oxide melts. Micrometric cubic by controlling a earth-supersaturated glassy composition melted at high temperature. Crystals with sizes ranging between 5 150 µm formed into matrix. A garnet phase corresponding to space group Ia-3d was identified X-ray diffraction confirmed Rietveld simulations. The morphology studied scanning electron microscopies, while chemical elements mapped dispersive X-Ray spectroscopy. XRD, thermal analysis Raman properties both glass-ceramic materials evaluated UV–Vis luminescence spectroscopies. Micro-luminescence measurements that earths incorporated crystalline phase. Intense upconversion emissions (550 660 nm) Tm3+ (800 observed when glass-ceramics pumped 980 nm. These new are excellent candidates for development photonic devices.

Er3+-doped transparent glass ceramics containing micron-sized SrF2 crystals for 2.7 μm emissions

Er(3+)-doped transparent glass ceramics containing micron-sized SrF2 crystals were obtained by direct liquid-phase sintering of a mixture of SrF2 powders and precursor glass powders at 820 °C for 15 min. The appearance and microstructural evolution of the SrF2 crystals in the resulting glass ceramics were investigated using X-ray diffraction, field-emission scanning electron microscopy and tran...

Luminescent Metal Nanoclusters for Potential Chemosensor Applications

Studies of metal nanocluster (M-NCs)-based sensors for specific analyte detection have achieved significant progress in recent decades. Ultra-small-size (<2 nm) M-NCs consist of several to a few hundred metal atoms and exhibit extraordinary physical and chemical properties. Similar to organic molecules, M-NCs display absorption and emission properties via electronic transitions between energy l...

Magneto-photonic Crystals for Optical Sensing Applications

Among the optical structures investigated for optical sensing purpose, a significant amount of research has been conducted on photonic crystal based sensors. A particular advantage of photonic crystal based sensors is that they show superior sensitivity for ultra-small volume sensing. In this study we investigate polarization changes in response to the changes in the cover index of magneto-opti...

Fabrication and properties of gallium metallic photonic crystals

Gallium metallic photonic crystals with 100% filling factor have been fabricated via infiltration of liquid gallium into opals of 300-nm silica spheres using a novel high pressure–high temperature technique. The electrical resistance of the Ga-opal crystals was measured at temperatures from 10 to 280K. The data obtained show that Ga-opal crystals are metallic network with slightly smaller tempe...

Photonic crystals for high temperature applications

This thesis focuses on the design, optimization, fabrication, and experimental realization of metallic photonic crystals (MPhCs) for high temperature applications, for instance thermophotovoltaic (TPV) energy conversion and selective solar absorption. We begin with the exploration of refractory two-dimensional (2D) MPhC slabs as selective thermal emitters that approach the emittance of a blackb...
